Extending a hand to others is, without a doubt, the purest and most sublime manifestation of love. That is why I have an immense affection for the Panama Foundation; this noble institution has been the bridge that allows me to transform intention into action!
I have been humbled and blessed by witnessing the eyes of children light up when they are pleasantly surprised by a gift or toy they didn’t expect; as well as the quiet dawning of serenity in the elderly patients eyes as they heard their needs were met, erasing the heavy shadow of feeling forgotten. And behind every battle with cancer lies a woman fighting to recognize herself. Providing a wig during hair loss, or a mastectomy bra after surgery, is a profound act of love that transcends the material world. It is the restoration of her dignity, a gentle reminder of her timeless beauty.
Evidencing that smile returns-bright, genuine, and radiant—when they look in the mirror, the world stands still, and my soul is completely comforted.
Every single time we manage to lift a heavy burden or meet a quiet need, a profound sense of purpose blossoms within me. It is a beautiful spark that transcends the ordinary, turning everyday moments into acts of grace. These acts of service weave our lives together, anchoring my reason for being and giving my existence a clear, radiant, and deeply meaningful purpose.
Along this very inspiring journey with Fundación Panamá I’ve also had the privilegee of meeting incredible like-minded individuals and built a strong network that until today we work closely, and remain as friends.

It is with great pride and gratitude that I share how honored I am to be a part of Fundación Panama.
Our non-profit organization is dedicated to making a meaningful difference by helping to alleviate poverty, raising awareness of important social challenges, and providing financial support to programs and initiatives serving communities in both the District of Columbia and the Republic of Panama.
Being part of this organization is especially important to me because its mission closely reflects my own values and my deep desire to help others. I have always believed in the importance of service, compassion, and giving back, and I have seen how even the smallest act of kindness or generosity can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
It is a privilege to work alongside others who share a genuine commitment to uplifting those in need and creating positive change.

Serving on the Board of Fundación Panamá is both a privilege and a personal honor for me.
Since the organization’s founding, more than 30 years ago, my mother has dedicated her time, heart, and leadership to the organization. Today, it brings me tremendous joy to continue that legacy alongside a new generation of leaders who share a commitment to preserving our heritage, strengthening our community, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Being part of Fundación Panamá means far more to me than belonging to an organization—it is being part of a family united by a shared love for Panama and a genuine desire to make a difference. I was fortunate to grow up watching my parents give back to their community, help others without hesitation, and lead with generosity and compassion. Their example taught me that service is not simply something we do; it is part of who we are.
Through Fundación Panamá, I am able to honor those values while celebrating the culture, traditions, and helping strengthen the bonds that connect Panamanians and friends of Panama across generations.
As Secretary of the Board, I feel deeply honored to contribute to a legacy that began in 1992 and continues through the dedication of extraordinary volunteers. It gives us the opportunity to build bridges between cultures, support meaningful causes in both Panama and the United States, and inspire others to become active participants in our community.
STRENGTHENING TIES WITH MIDES
During her recent visit to Washington, D.C., Her Excellency Beatriz Carles de Arango, Minister of Social Development of Panama (MIDES), met with Fundación Panamá President Mylene Marrone in Georgetown for a productive conversation focused on future collaboration and opportunities to support nonprofit organizations serving communities in Panama.
The discussion explored ways in which the MIDES could provide guidance to organizations currently supported by Fundación Panamá, particularly those operating children’s homes, shelters, and care centers for children and older adults apply for subsidies that would assist them maintain their programs.
Minister Carles de Arango promised to connect President Marrone with the staff that can guide them through the legal and administrative requirements they need to follow in order to qualify.
Looking ahead, the Minister also expressed her willingness to return to Washington, D.C., for a roundtable discussion with Fundación Panamá, providing an opportunity to share information about new initiatives and programs in Panama focused on youth, mental health, and overall well-being.
Fundación Panamá looks forward to continuing this dialogue and exploring meaningful opportunities for collaboration that can strengthen the organizations and communities we support in Panama.
MAREA ROJA WATCH PARTIES
Panamanians from DC, MD, & VA
This June, the 2026 World Cup gave us another opportunity to remember that no matter where we live, when Panamá takes the field, we become one Marea Roja! Members of our community came together for Marea Roja watch parties to cheer on “La Sele.” Dressed in red and proudly waving our flag, watching our national team compete on the world stage.
But the celebration went far beyond Washington. In New York City, Panamanians took over Times Square! The heart of Manhattan was transformed into a sea of red, as Panamanians gathered with flags, music, drums, dancing, chants, and an unmistakable sense of unity.
And Fundación Panamá Was There! Win, lose, or draw, we were proud.
As part of the festivities, handed out Panamanian flags and fun red, white, and blue sunglasses, adding a little extra Panamá spirit to the celebrations and also an opportunity to connect with our community. We were happy to share who we are, what we do and invited the community to become involved.
SUPPORTING FIESTA DC & OUR ROYAL REPRESENTATIVES
Fundación Panamá was proud to support the gala organized by Panameños in the DMV to select the royal representatives who will proudly represent Panama at Fiesta DC in September 2026.
Several members of our Board, friends and families joined our community in celebrating Panamanian culture, tradition, and pride. Congratulations to the organizers and all that participated in this exciting night.
We believe in supporting, contributing and uplifting community whether through cultural events, community initiatives, education, the arts, or other endeavors that positively represent our country, we are proud to stand behind those who keep Panamá’s spirit and traditions alive.

Hogar Santa Luisa – Colon, Panama
Our current charitable project focuses on Hogar Santa Luisa, a senior home in Colón, Panama, that provides care, comfort, and dignity to older adults in need.
We warmly invite our members, friends, and supporters to join us in this important mission. Every contribution—large or small—helps provide essential resources and support for the residents of Hogar Santa Luisa, making a meaningful difference in their daily lives.
